China exports boom
Fastest pace in 3 years

In the tear to February exports from China rose by 36.2 per cent while imports fell by 0.2 per cent taking the trade surplus to the equivalent of US$ 33.7 billion. Combining January and February’s data, to try and adjust for the Lunar New Year, exports rose 24.4 per cent. Today its foreign minister Wang Yi said they were prepared to take the necessary response should President Trump start a trade war which would negatively impact all sides.

International Women’s Day today and accountancy firm Deloitte has announced it maintains a 43 per cent pay gap between men and women. At the Vatican ex-Irish President Mary MaAleese has been barred from speaking at a conference having accused the Catholic church of being misogynistic and generally ignoring women.
